About Me
Chris Peltz, MBA
I am an independent educational consultant providing college coaching and guidance to high school students. With a dedication to education, I help students discover their unique gifts, guiding them toward career paths and colleges that align with their goals. I work with students across all disciplines but specialize in helping those looking to pursue a Technology or Engineering career.
Since 2019, I have been working with students in Northern Colorado, assisting them with college list building, the college application process, and financial aid. I thrive on learning as much as I can about colleges and the admissions process to impart that knowledge to families. I also apply my operational skills to help keep students on task with their applications and deadlines.
I learned the importance of education from my father, a math teacher in Detroit for 42 years. From that experience, I integrate learning and teaching others in everything I do. I am a lifelong learner with a B.S. in Engineering from the University of Michigan, a Master of Engineering from the University of Colorado, and an M.B.A. from Walden University. I also completed a four-year Education for Ministry program at the University of the South's School of Theology.
My professional experience spans 31 years in the high-tech industry, working for IBM, HP, and Micro Focus in various roles. I am energized by learning new things and applying them to solve problems creatively, especially those that enable others to be more effective and efficient. I draw upon my extensive professional experience to help students identify their strengths, explore potential career paths, and develop the skills necessary for success in college and beyond. As a member of the University of Michigan Engineering Alumni Board since 2020, I help current and prospective Michigan students understand various engineering majors and careers.
In addition to my professional achievements, I am deeply committed to my family and community. I have lived in Colorado since 1994 with my wife Lainie, owner of Massage by Lainie and Windsor Town Board member. We are proud of the three incredible children we have raised in the Weld RE-4 system. Our oldest, Amilee, graduated from the University of Michigan in 2021 and is now a software engineer at FactSet in Connecticut. Neva, our middle child, graduated with Honors from Cornell University in May 2024. Our youngest, Joe, is a Colorado School of Mines junior majoring in Mining Engineering. We also have a 5-year-old grand-dog named Shiv, a Jindo Mix.
I have been a volunteer at Windsor Kyger Reservoir, a FIRST Robotics Competition Judge, and a judge for the Windsor Optimist Club Oratorical Contest. Since 2023, I have saved non-profit organizations over $24,000 through the Catchafire.org platform, including the Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education, Kids First Initiative, and Read to a Child.
